Keep your chin up

Question:

I have a huge problem. I am a 20 year old male and have never been out on a date. I just can't seem to get a girl to go out with me. I know I'm not bad looking and I try to be myself, but I always get turned down by the ladies. Help ambassador!

Answer:

Life can often throw us curve balls. We swing for the fences and end up only displacing air. My dear Billy, I think your problem may be that you’re over thinking it and making yourself look desperate.

Don’t get me wrong, it is completely normal to want to socialize beyond a plutonic level at your age, but it’s not healthy to obsess over it. Trust me, give it time and women will be throwing themselves at you.

I can tell from your question that you are eager to meet as many women as possible and try and woo them the best you know how. Well, if your track record hasn’t told you anything it may be time for you to switch up your angle.

Be confident and don’t cling to every chance you think you may have with a girl. Let them come to you. You are allowing yourself to feel compelled to be with a woman. Well, I’ve got news for you, women can smell desperation…and it’s a rather stinky cologne.

If you appear to be willing to go out with anyone, then what do you think the girl is going to think of you? She’s probably going to think that you’ll take whatever you can get. That is definitely not the best first impression to make.

I like the fact that you’re being yourself, this is good, it will provide you with true confidence that so many guys lack because they lie and pretend to be something they’re not. Too often a man seduces a woman on a bed of lies. Trust me, these are not the second dates you want to be on.

Don’t overextend yourself to try and get a girl out on a date. Be witty, collected, and mysterious. If she says “no” then walk away with confidence and don’t let it get to you. Don’t paint a picture with a metaphorical neon sign over your head blinking “will pay for a date!”

Everyone, both women and men, get turned down all the time so don’t take it too hard when you get rejected. It’s a part of life that we all, yes even the infamous Don Juan, have had to deal with at one point or another. Keep your chin up Billy, I’m sure this cold streak will end and you’ll be out dancing with some lucky lady before you know it!
