Long distance: A do or a don't?
Long distance: A do or a don't?
Question:O.k. so I like this guy but he's from a different state...we are sorta like pen pals...but not really. Anyways we both like each other and he told me that one of these days he's coming to see me...and we talk everyday and I know that long distance relationships never work, but when he comes, we could be together...I need guidance. Please help!
Jess
Answer:Oh Jess, whoever said that all long distance relationships don’t work out? I have plenty of friends who initially started dating via long distance and their relationships turned to marriage... So please, for the sake of this boy traveling all the way to see you, don’t second guess the feelings you have for him at this point.
It sounds to me that you are concerned as to whether you should get emotionally involved with someone who doesn’t live in the same area code. Well, I don’t think they charge long distance with cell phones, so the telephone bill should not be a problem, but I’m just making a point. If you aren’t willing to give this guy a chance when he does come to town, then what’s the point of spending all of these emotions being a romantic “pen pal” while he is out of town? You obviously care about him to the point that you are willing to talk everyday and have invested an emotional interest.
I want you to have fun when this guy comes into town. Take him out and show him what you like to do. Make all of those words that you write him, bounce off the page and come to life.
My dearest Jess, if this guy is able to sweep you off your feet over the phone, then imagine how he’ll be in person. Best of luck and go get em tiger!
