Daniel Radcliffe Talks “Equus” Opening

He’s an old pro when it comes to stage acting, with rave reviews for his UK performances. But Daniel Radcliffe was still plenty nervous when “Equus” opened on Broadway last night (September 25).

He told press, "It was funny because tonight I didn't expect to be nervous because we've done all the previews, we've had all the critics here. I thought, `Oh, we'll do it tonight, it won't be so bad.' But I was terrified before we went out. I was like, `Omigod, this is it.'"

And he says that a good case of the nerves is just the thing for a great performance each night. "The jitters should be there 'til the last night of performing — because the jitters are what get you on stage," he said. "It's the nerves that make it exciting and vital and make every show different."

Following the performance, Daniel headed out to greet the press before making his way to the cast party, held at Chelsea Piers on Manhattan’s west side.

With Hollywood stars like Radcliffe and Katie Holmes taking over Broadway, we could see a massively successful Fall theatre season.
