What happens when you get two actors who are hilarious, good-looking, and fun to watch on the silver screen? America found out last night as “What Happens in Vegas” opened in theatres Nationwide.

In some ways the film is a no-brainer… put Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz together in a forced-marriage situation and the classic men vs. women clichés sort of write the script themselves. Here’s the rundown:

Diaz’s character (Joy) is engaged to a wealthy businessman who takes her for granted. In an attempt to get his attention, she plans a surprise party for his birthday, but when he shows up (before everyone jumps out to yell ‘surprise!’) he dumps her.

Meanwhile, across town Kutcher’s (Jack) character has a lack of desire to grow up, to the point that his own father fires him from his job. And simultaneously, both characters decide to go to Las Vegas to regroup.

The hilarity ensues when they are both given the same room, a situation that ends in Diaz and co-star Lake Bell (Tipper) attacking and manhandling Kutcher and co-star Rob Corddry (Hater). What follows is an inebriated evening, the culmination of which is the wedding of Jack and Joy.

To throw a wrench in the whole ordeal, the next day, just after deciding to annul the marriage, Jack wins the $3 million slot machine jackpot. Talk about marital assets!

Once back home, Judge Whopper (Dennis Miller) refuses to grant the annulment and freezes the $3 million for six months while Jack and Joy are sentenced to weekly marital counseling. If you wanna know how it turns out, go see it!

Throughout the movie, the decidedly average storyline is given quite an upgrade by the characterization of the main players. And of course, Ashton Kutcher keeps the laugh-out-loud moments coming, while Cameron Diaz capitalizes on the male and female stereotype moments. It’s a good movie, though it won’t be generating any Oscar buzz.
